FURLOUGH FRIDAYS at Kalihi Union Church BUILDING THE GROUNDWORK

VISION: 170,830 students in the state of Hawaii will not be allowed to attend school for seventeen Fridays during the '09-'10 school year. Although we cannot help all of the children affected by these furloughs, we can meet the needs of many families in our EFCA churches and in the Kalihi community. Through a Furlough Friday program at KUC, similar to our yearly Summer Fun, we have an incredible opportunity to demonstrate God's compassion, reach this generation, and use the campus that God has blessed us with. However, this vision cannot be accomplished without you! This is a scary but exciting time right now. Hopefully we can all work together and help each other for His glory!

FURLOUGH FRIDAYS at Kalihi Union Church BEGINS OCTOBER 30, 2009

For students in grades K-6 (only ages 6 to 12 years old) REGULAR DAY PROGRAM • 8:00am - 2:00pm Only $12 per day per child! Includes free early morning care from 7am - 8am General Assembly begins at 8:00am ALL DAY PROGRAM • 8:00am - 5:00pm Only $15 per day per child! Must provide your own lunch and snacks Activities include: Homework Assistance & Academic Enrichment, Gym Play & Sports, Bible Lessons, Music & Dance, Arts & Crafts REGISTRATION For those who want to start on Oct. 30, Registration AND a minimum deposit of $15 must be received by October 26, 2009. If you desire to pay each Friday individually, payment is due ONE WEEK PRIOR to each date you are registering for. Scholarships are available for families who need financial help. HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED

You can join our team in several ways:

1.	If you are available all day on Fridays, have a high school diploma, and have experience working with children (especially if your background check has been cleared with DHS), please consider becoming a full-time leader. We would like to offer two programs: one morning care option from 8am - 2pm and one all day option from 8am - 5pm.  This may become a paid position.
2.	If you are available for part of the day on Fridays and are willing to work with children, please consider volunteering an hour or two during one of our activities. We plan to offer various one hour time slots for chapel, exercise, tutoring, specialty classes, and Bible study. We need coordinators, junior leaders, assistants, and custodial staff.
3.	If you are not available on Fridays but still want to be involved, please consider becoming one of our prayer warriors, donors, or office assistants. We want to constantly surrender our vision to God, support our families during these challenging economic times, and offer a well-thought out program.
